ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The 26-year-old joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan until the end of the season last month and since then he has made three appearances. However, after being an unused substitute in the 2-0 loss to Koln on Friday, German publication Bild claims the former Ajax man has been told by head coach Dino Toppmoller he will not be part of the club's European campaign this term.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The report adds Van de Beek showed "good signs" in his three matches for The Eagles but "not enough" overall and his lack of action for United is "clearly" having a negative effect. The Dutch international's move to United has not worked out as planned and although Frankfurt could end his Old Trafford nightmare with a €14 million buy option, there is no guarantee the Bundesliga team will push ahead with that transfer.

DID YOU KNOW?
The midfielder swapped Ajax for United for £35 million ($46m) in 2020 but he has played just 62 times for the club since then and just 23 of those have been starts. While knee injuries have limited his game time, he struggled in a loan stint at Everton in 2022 and with his contract up in 2025, he may have played his last game for the Red Devils.

WHAT NEXT?
While Van de Beek won't be involved in Frankfurt's two-legged Europa Conference League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise on February 15 and 22, he could feature in their Bundesliga games against Bochum next weekend, Freiburg the weekend after that, and the rest of the league season.
